Make My Array

Make My Array
This is a great game to play after introducing repeated addition as a way to multiply. We started with 1inch graph paper and then as we improved, we used 1/4 inch graph paper. Talk about strategy and maybe you should start in a corner instead of plopping a big roll right in the middle.
Students work in pairs taking turns rolling 2 dice. Student record their roll with a dark marker and outline the array. Example: If a student rolls a 4 and a 6, they would draw a box 6 boxes across and 4 boxes down on their graph paper. Then write the multiplication problem and product in that box. While their partner rolls, they may color in their array.
